This topic is about Eventide, the upcoming Magic: the Gathering set! Discussion and speculation welcome (except for Bob's). Eventide Spoilers ListAt the moment, 3 cards have been spoiled. One which we know about and is the above. Another which looks like some Planar Chaos/Poison the Well shenanigans. And finally, the Chrome mechanic? Feels like it could be b0rk (in constructed formats other than T2 and Block).

Suffers from the Smokebraider problem. Comes out on turn 2 and dies to everything. Although it may be better than Smokebraider. Turn 1 Mogg Fanatic, turn 2 Bloom Tender, turn 3 Rhys - tap Bloom Tender for 3 mana for something nutty. Scuttlemutt is even slower for making him a 5 mana boost.

Good find there, Rascal. The ability to re-cast spells in the yard off land in hand seems obscene. Control decks finally have a really good reason to run an over abundance of land that won't cause you to /suicide if you draw too much.

This card is yummy. Immune to terror, east to accelerate out since it is green, relevant abilities and on-par to great mana cost to p/t ratio. I smell a good rare.

I smell a new Spiritmonger. I am really excited for Needle Specter honestly. GBw deck ahead for me. edit: Meh, decent if it can get through. Also, lot of enchantment / artifact hate on creatures it looks like.

I rofl my waffles at the new Ashling. A decent body but a pretty irrelevant ability. Actually, that ability seems pretty bad (not detrimental but if they're going to lose the creature, they'd just block Ashling with it). I wish it was cooler like the red Ashling.

The new Ashling looks like a nice midrange card, having a solid body to go along with a relevant ability. I think what Attila is missing here is that she prevents your opponent from racing with you and has awesome synergy with Profane Command. Also, let's remember that as a 4 toughness black creature, she dodges the majority of the block's relevant removal Rock looks like it will be my deck of choice post-Eventide. Diety of Scars is what midrange Rock players were all waiting for (regenerating black fatty with trample) and Ashling is a nice bonus, a solid 4 drop to pair with Chameleon Colossus; and one that we can give fear to!

At four mana, I can't say Ashling excites me. I think the new artwork is pretty hot but she doesn't actually solve a Colossus or Bitterblossom. I think there's actually enough cards released on the spoiler to start trying to proxy in new decks.

This is a big reason to get excited about Eventide. This is a wild draft bomb and someone is going to break it in block.

Is that a noggle? It looks kinda freaky. Like a trollish zombie Michael Jackson with Aerosmith hair. The retrace is awesome too. Too bad it's sorcery speed otherwise it'd be pretty b0rk.

Hallowed Burial 3ww Sorcery Rare Put all creatures on the bottom of their owners' libraries. This looks better than wrath. With persist and indestructible sneaking around, I really like this card.

Helix Pinnacle g Enchantment Rare Shroud {X}: Put X tower counters on Helix Pinnacle. At the beginning of your upkeep, if there are 100 or more tower counters on Helix Pinnacle, you win the game. I WANT TO WIN WITH THIS

Input from a Vintage player...
Talara's Battalion Good call on this one, Bob. I'm really exited to see such a good card and have it be green-centered. Primarily, I always said that the answer to making colors other than blue good in Vintage is to actually print good cards in those colors. The answer is not to restrict Gifts Ungiven, Flash, Brainstorm, Ponder and re-restricting Gush. This is a good effort in that direction. The fact that there needs to be like 16~ish other green spells in the deck pleases me. Oath of Druids, Tarmogoyf, Quirion Dryad, Nimble Mongoose, Wild Mongrel, etc. just end up becoming the servant of the blue mage. Could this actually help out a green based deck in Vintage?
Helix Pinnacle This card looks like fun too. I've been dying to find a way to break Thran Turbine and Soulbright Flamekin. As far as Vintage goes, I don't this will work. If you could generate 100 mana, I think there are easier ways to win.
Tilling Treefolk 2G Common When Tilling Treefolk comes into play, put up to two target land cards from your graveyard into your hand. 1/3 Anyone who has argued with me over card choices knows I love spell abilities on creatures. I would much rather include this than Crucible of Worlds or Life From the Loam to recur Strip Mine or Wasteland. Another decent green card.
duergar hedge-maze {r/w} 2 Creature - Dwarf Shaman When Duergar Hedge-Mage comes into play, if you control two or more Mountains, you may destroy target artifact. When Duergar Hedge-Mage comes into play, if you control two or more Plains, you may destroy target enchantment. uncommon 2/2 Another spell ability on a creature. I love this kind of efficiency. Cheaper than Indrik Stomphowler, Viridian Zealot in one shot and faster than Capashen Unicorn. I'm surprised to see a Disenchant Man in this color combination. I thought they were shifting Disenchant away from white and giving it to green. The trick to it though is that it won't work until at least turn 2. The color combination will also make it less likely that it will see play.
Scarecrone 3 Artifact Creature-Scarecrow rare 1, Sacrifice a Scarecrow:Draw a card 4,T:Return target artifact creature card from your graveyard to play. 1/2 Another really tempting scarecrow that probably won't see play in Vintage. After all, I thought Reaper King, Lurebound Scarecrow and Heap Doll were really neat too.
I'm interested in seeing everyone else's picks. After all, cards that are not playable in Vintage look like junk to me. I don't want to be trading away a potential $8 rare for a playset of an uncommon.

The cards I really like are:
Dream Fracture 1UU Instant Uncommon Counter target spell. Its controller draws a card. Draw a card.
Creakwood Liege 1{bg}{bg}{bg} Creature - Horror Rare Other black creatures you control get +1/+1. Other green creatures you control get +1/+1. At the beginning of your upkeep, you may put a 1/1 black and green Worm creature token into play. 2/2
Deity of Scars {bg}{bg}{bg}{bg}{bg} Creature - Spirit Avatar Rare Trample Deity of Scars comes into play with two -1/-1 counters on it. {bg}, Remove a -1/-1 counter from Deity of Scars: Regenerate Deity of Scars. 7/7
